Prince Adedamola Docemo, Managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), has extended his hand of fellowship to industry practitioners, particularly those in out-of-home industry.

Docemo, who spoke at the annual general meeting of Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) in Lagos, said that under his leadership, LASAA would explore all available benefits of the new virtual arrangement as a catalyst to accelerate the partnership between LASAA and OAAN and make it better.

He described the recently established joint OAAN/LASAA Committee as one of such high points of the partnership.

According to the LASAA boss, “All players in the value chain of the outdoor advertising business must live up to their commitments and responsibilities,” stressing that to whom much is given, much is expected.

On debt settlement, Docemo said the industry could only grow when debts were settled promptly, rather than allowing it to become protracted.

He said: “I want to use this opportunity to appeal especially to the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) and the Media Buyers i.e. Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria to correct some of the anomalies associated with debt settlements.”

According to him, by this, “outdoor advertising practitioners can meet their several obligations to LASAA and other statutory bodies. A situation where debts are protracted and forcefully discounted after exposures are executed must stop as a model and practice for this industry to flourish.”

On the COVID-19 pandemic, Docemo said, “You will agree with me that this pandemic has brought upon us a ‘new normal’, which has altered our ways of living as well as mode of doing business.

“But as humans, we will surely navigate ourselves through these uncharted territories and surmount this many challenges.

“Few years back, many of us would not have imagined that meetings and especially Annual General Meetings of this status will be conducted virtually. Let me restate that as practitioners we must all brace up to adopt these new norms in our business practice.”
