The office of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, at Ughelli, Delta State has been burnt down by some hoodlums.
The incident happened as the state held its local government election across the 25 local government areas.
Sixteen political parties with a total of 1, 089 candidates contested for the various positions.
It was gathered that the office of the electoral body was burnt down amidst confusion that ensued over attempts by some persons to hijack electoral materials and the general attempt to rig the local government election.
The election was reported to have been largely marked by some irregularities.

In view of the irregularities, some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Isoko South council for instance, staged a protest.
They marched to the police station where some of the sensitive materials were taken to.
In order to ensure a free and fair election devoid of violence, the Delta State Command of the Police Force deployed over 9,000 mobile and regular policemen for the exercise.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr Andrew Aniamaka, said neighbouring police commands gave additional support.
He warned against violence, stressing that anybody found culpable would be dealt with.
