The Boko Haram-freed students of Government Girls Secondary and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, Yobe State, have finally returned home.

The 105 girls have reunited with their families.

Accompanied by top government officials, they were flown in a military airplane on Sunday to Damaturu from where they were taken down to Dapchi.

The handing over took place at the assembly hall of Government Secondary School, Dapchi, in Bursari local government area of Yobe.

Kidnapped by insurgents on February 19, 2018, the girls were returned to Yobe after the negotiation initiated by the federal government to ensure safe return of the girls.

After they were freed on Wednesday, they were taken to Abuja where they met with the president.

Officially announcing the return of the girls, President Muhammadu Buhari assured them of their safety and freedom to pursue their dreams.

He spoke about the government’s commitment to ensuring that a similar incident never happened again.
