Dana Air to Fly US-Based Doctors on Medical Mission to A’Ibom

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Dana Air said it will partner Global Image Foundation, a United States-based organization on a free medical mission to Akwa Ibom State.

The airline said it is committed to assisting the NGO offer free surgical and dental help to the underprivileged in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, from March 5- 9.

Other activities to be carried by the medical mission include the provision of quality medical care, training of local medical practitioners and the creation of laparoscopic surgical camp for the local medical community.

Consequently, it said it will also fly a team of 20 doctors US-based from Lagos to Akwa Ibom state for the mission.

Speaking on the initiative, the airline’s Communications Manager, Kingsley Ezenwa said, “Our commitment to the health and well-being of Nigerians has never been in doubt.

“This goes beyond flying into a state, but providing necessary support and contributing positively to the lives of the indigenes of the state.’’

Also speaking, the Founder of Global Image Foundation, Mfonbong Essiet said, “For the duration of this program, the good people of Akwa Ibom State and those who are not able to afford basic health care, will benefit from this initiative providing free surgeries including minimally invasive techniques.’’

She thanked Dana Air for being ahead of other cooperate bodies in supporting worthy causes in the state and for offering to fly the team to Akwa Ibom state.

Mrs. Essiet, however, advised the people to take advantage of the program and strive for good health.

Meanwhile, Dana Air has further confirmed its commitment to fighting cancer in Nigeria, with its recent support to Nigeria’s first and foremost childhood cancer charity, Children Living with Cancer Foundation.

The airline has also pledged to support the foundation’s art competition which will be organised on the theme: “Colours of Hope,” as part of the commemoration of the International Day of Childhood Cancer Awareness.

Dana Air through its foundation, the Dana Foundation has been providing support to communities and nongovernmental organisations that share similar objectives.

The airline has since 2014, been supporting many cancer advocacy groups particularly, Project PinkBlue; in the fight against cancer in Nigeria.
