Osun State governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has expressed displeasure over non-use of face masks by residents of the state in worship centres, motor parks and market places.

Oyetola, who threatened to shut down worship centres, parks and market places where face masks are not used as one of the preventive measures to curb the spread of dreaded Coronavirus, extended the relaxation of curfew by another two weeks.

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, in Osogbo, Oyetola reminded the people that the ban on inter-state travels remained in force, adding that any motor park that failed to comply with the directive would be shut down as well.

Oyetola had on June 5 relaxed the curfew by two weeks. It would now run from 9 p.m to 5 am daily.

Oyetola expressed displeasure at the level of compliance with some of the relaxation guidelines, especially the wearing of face masks at public places.

He warned that worship centres and markets that failed to adhere to the guidelines would be shut down.

“COVID-19 is real and Osun is not out of the woods yet. We have noticed that many of our citizens are brazenly flouting the safety guidelines put in place to curb the spread of virus in the state.

“The government will not fold its hands while a few people jeopardise the mileage we have recorded so far in this fight. It is not yet uhuru and strict enforcement will commence immediately.

“Any worship centre, market or motor park where people do not wear face masks or maintain social distancing will be shut down,” the governor said.
