Anambra state Commissioner of Police, John Abang, and his Delta state counter part, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah, in company of Offencers of the Commands, have agreed to strengthen the lockdown order in the inter- state boundaries.
They explained that their visit to the Bridge head, Onitsha, was to decongest the bridge and ensure free movement of only essential goods and service providers, as well as enforce strict compliance with the ban on movement across states’ boundaries.
Speaking to Journalists on Friday at the Bridge Head in Asaba, the Police Commissioner in Anambra state, Mr. Abang said that the step was taken in the overall interest of the public, urging people to endure attendant hardships pending a review of the directives.
Mr. Abang also said that measures were being put in place to ensure that security men manning the boundaries did not compromise.

Speaking also the Delta state Counter part, Mr. Inuwah said that the Police in Delta state would Collaborate with those in Anambra to ensure that people did not lack essential goods and services, even as movements across states’ boundaries were restricted.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Sam Onwuteaka, who was at the bridge with his men enforcing the ban, said that their efforts have been yielding positive results, especially with the interception of trucks loaded with passengers.
A passerby, Ifeanyi Asogwa who spoke to Journalists said that the preventive measures outlined by the governments were in the interest of the masses, but frowned at the ban on movement of people across state boundaries saying it was negatively affecting businesses and daily lives as most traders in Onitsha live in Delta state.
Mr. Asogwa called for better measures in curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world.
