Benue State Deputy Governor and Chairman of the state’s COVID-19 Committee, Mr. Benson Abounu, has expressed joy as the 2nd case of the COVID-19 in the state, Edward Manger, was discharged from the Quarantine and Treatment Centre, at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Makurdi.
The 2nd case was discharged after he had successfully undergone treatment at the centre following which he had further tests carried out on him, and with the results showing negative.
Mr. Edward, while leaving expressed deep gratitude to God for healing him and also commended staff of the Centre for what he described as their high level of professionalism.
Responding, Chief Medical Director of the FMC, Dr. Peter Inudugh, expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the success so far recorded at the Centre, pledging to continue to work with his staff to achieve more results.
According to Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, a member of the committee, the Deputy Governor Abounu has visited the centre on an assessment tour to ascertain the state of patients there as well as facilities on ground, expressed satisfaction with what he saw.
He noted that all cases so far managed at the centre, both the positive and negative ones, had been well taken care of and that facilities were in good and functional state.

Head of the Infectious Diseases and Trauma Centre of the FMC, responsible for management of COVID-19 cases, Dr. Eneh Agada, told the Deputy Governor that the 3rd case, Mrs. Rebecca Apedzan, was due for her next round of tests in 24 hours and could be discharged if her results come through as Negative.
She also said the 4th case being the minor was in high spirits and responding well to treatment, with the possibility that she could be discharged in due course, if her subsequent tests come through as negative.
Dr. Agada assured that health workers who were involved in attending to the 2nd case discharged have been put under mandatory isolation which will last for the next 14 days with attendant tests on them.
The Deputy Governor expressed optimism that Benue will come out victorious against the COVID-19 pandemic, enjoining the people to remain prayerful and vigilant while adhering to all preventive measures prescribed by government.
He was accompanied on the assessment tour by the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Ngunan Addingi as well as member of the Committee, Bemgba Iortyom.
