The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday, November 3, confirmed 137 COVID-19 cases and four deaths arising from the disease.
The body also disclosed that 506 persons fully recovered from the disease and were discharged.
An update by the health agency put the overall number of infections as of Tuesday, at 63,173; total discharges at 59,634 and total fatalities at 1,151.
It said the cases were reported from 15 states and Abuja with Lagos, recording the highest number of new cases.
“The 137 new cases are reported from 16 states- Lagos (60), Abia (21), FCT (18), Rivers (13), Kaduna (5), Oyo (4), Edo (3), Delta (2), Imo (2), Kano (2), Ogun (2), Bauchi (1), Gombe (1), Nasarawa (1), Niger (1), Osun (1),” the NCDC said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire has said that some returning travelers have tested positive for COVID-19.
Speaking at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Ehanire said: “18 out of about 78,000 returning travelers have tested positive for #COVID19 upon 2nd screening in Nigeria.
He however, assured that “The @PTFCOVID19 has initiated stringent measures to limit the risk of importing the virus via international travel”
Also speaking, the Director General of the NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, expressed concern over the rising cases of COVID-19 in parts of the world.
He said: “Increasing #COVID19 cases in parts of the world raises concern over importing the virus to #Nigeria.
“A 2nd wave is not inevitable & we can’t let down our guard just yet. We must play our part by adhering to recommended measures.”
