The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy morning conditions over the Central states of the country on Sunday with prospects of thunderstorms over Abuja, Bida, Lafia, Yola, Jalingo and Mambilla Plateau.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Saturday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 31 to 36 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

It added that thunderstorms would prevail over Mambilla plateau, Abuja, Ibi, Lokoja, Makurdi and Ilorin axis in the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience cloudy morning over Enugu, Abakaliki, and Owerri with possibilities of thunderstorms.

NiMet added that moderate rains would be experienced over Ibadan, Abeokuta, Akure, Ado, Oshogbo, Shaki, Lagos, Ijebu Ode Port Harcourt, Eket, Yenegoa and Calabar.

It also predicted thunderstorms and moderate rains over the entire region in the afternoon and evening with day and night temperatures of 29 to 34 and 20 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern states will experience cloudy morning with possibilities of thunderstorm over Sokoto, Gusau, Kaduna, Katsina and Kano with day and night temperatures of 32 to 42 and 21 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

“There are prospects of thunderstorms over the north eastern axis with cloudiness over the north western axis during the afternoon and evening period.

“Increased cloudiness is expected over most parts of the country with prospect of thunderstorms over some region in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicts. (NAN)
