The Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. Eteng Jonah-Williams, on Monday inaugurated a block of nine classrooms at Community Secondary School, Agoi-Ibami, Yakut Local Government Area of the state.
Jonah-Williams also announced the payment of school fees of 169 students from JSS1 to JSS 3 in the school.
He said the project was facilitated through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in fulfillment of part of his campaign promises to his constituents.
The speaker said the people of the area deserved quality education, adding that the future belonged to the youth.
He therefore advised the students in the area to show capacity and be responsive to their studies.
“I am pleased to facilitate this project we are inaugurating today. It is one of my campaign promises to the people of Agoi-Ibami.
“To show my commitment to education, I am going to pay the school fees for all the students in the school from JSS1 to JSS3 for this academic year,” he said.
Jonah-Williams assured his constituents of the completion of more projects.
According to him, other campaign promises such as the rehabilitation of the Mkpani-Agoi Ibami Road and the electrification of the community would soon be achieved.
The speaker said the inauguration would not have been possible but for the support of the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.

Earlier, principal of the school, Mr. Obono Ibiang, commended Jonah-Williams for extending the project to the area.
Also, the traditional ruler of the community, Mr Attah Ujong, said that the school had suffered neglect in terms of infrastructure intervention.
He described the speaker as God sent and added that he had removed shame on Agoi-Ibami community.
Ujong expressed gratitude to the speaker for fulfilling his campaign promises and urged him do to more in the area of road network.
The facility comprises of 16 toilets, a staff office and library. (NAN)
