Progressives in Academics, Pro-Acad, body of professors and academicians in Nigerian tertiary institutions, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the just concluded general elections.
The association extended its felicitations in a statement signed by its convener, Prof. Bolarinwa Bolaji, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.
Bolaji said he was optimistic that the president and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, would continue the fight against corruption thereby making the country a place of abode for everyone.
He urged Pro-Acad to work with the president to achieve better Nigeria in the areas of education, economy, social, health care delivery and massive infrastructural development.
“This victory is for the anti corruption struggle of the Buhari administration which is yielding positive results, it is a victory for massive infrastructural development currently ongoing across the country.
“It is a victory for dignity for our country.
“We congratulate the Nigerian masses, most especially because the victory is a testimony that power belongs and resides with the masses. We are indeed very happy that the victory was handed over to PMB, an individual who is strongly committed to protect the interest of the masses against the greed and avariciousness of the Nigerian elites.
“To us, the victory does not come as a surprise for it is a well- deserved one. It only came as a result of the unprecedented achievements recorded, acknowledged by Nigerians and other sister countries who are friends of our dear country.

“We are indeed confident that the achievements in the first term in office shall be a child’s play when compared to what will be achieved in the second term.’’
Bolaji also called on the president to rise to call of duty to serve the country as never before while calling on Nigerians to learn from advanced countries in order to develop Nigeria.
“It is also time for all Nigerians, regardless of beliefs, religion, ethnicity, creed or class, to be genuinely committed, dedicated and strive hard toward rendering selfless services to our dear country.
“Since we have no other country we can call ours, now is the time to join hand with President Muhammadu Buhari in taking Nigeria to the next level in the provision of good governance that will engender realisation of much-needed dividends of democracy.
“Let us learn lesson from the Americans and other advanced democracies of the world, the moment general elections is over, they stop playing politics, all and sundry join hands with the winner in the provision of qualitative services to their country.
