For the first time in the history of Germany, they have been knocked out of the World Cup in the group stages.
In their first game in Russia they lost to Mexico, shockingly, 1-0.
In their second game against Sweden it took a last minute goal by Toni Kroos to win that game 2-1.
That win kept them in the competition.
Earlier against South Korea, all they needed was a win.
The Germans had many chances to win but were not able to convert them.
Sweden on the other hand went into the game against Mexico with three points from their win against Korea.
All they needed was a win.
Mexico had six points already.
They needed a draw to top the group.
Sweden defeated Mexico 3-0 to top of the group.

All Germany needed to do was beat Korea.
A 1-0 win would have been enough given the result of the Sweden-Mexico.
The Germans, unfortunately, were stunned by Korea who beat them by 2-0.
Germany has now become third team in three successive World Cup to get knocked out in the group stage after winning the previous edition.
France won the World Cup in 1998 and went out in the group stages of Korea/Japan World Cup in 2002.
Italy won the World Cup in 2006 and went out of the group stages in South Africa 2010 World Cup.
Spain were champions in 2010 and could not make it past the group stages of the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil.
Germany won that edition and are out today.
