President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory that translated into electoral gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President’s commendation followed Saturday’s elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the six area councils of the FCT.

Next Edition reports that by-elections were also held in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as in Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

The APC recorded significant victories in most of the positions contested.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu congratulated the party’s national leadership, as well as its Kano and Rivers State chapters, for the electoral successes.

The President also lauded INEC, security agencies, and voters for ensuring a peaceful and credible exercise. He praised the conduct of all contestants, noting that democracy thrives on active participation and healthy competition.

Tinubu urged the newly elected officials to discharge their responsibilities with “humility, patriotism, and dedication,” describing the mandate given to them by the electorate as a sacred trust.

He further called on INEC to sustain efforts toward improving the nation’s electoral processes, stressing that the successful conduct of the polls strengthens Nigeria’s democratic institutions and culture.
