One of the staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, Hauwa Liman, kidnapped in March this year, has been killed by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Liman was kidnapped when the terrorists attacked Rann in Borno State.
The killing came barely a few hours after the ICRC raised the alarm over the safety of the aid worker and called on the Federal Government and people of influence to rescue her and Leah Sharibu, the only Dapchi school girl in the custody of the terrorists.
Liman was said to have been short dead at close range.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has reacted to the killing, describing it as “dastardly, inhuman and ungodly.”
In a statement he issued, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, commiserated with Liman’s family.
He said the government did everything within its ability to no avail.

Nothing, he said, could justify the killing of Hauwa Liman.
”It is very unfortunate that it has come to this. Before and after the deadline issued by her abductors, the federal government did everything any responsible government should do to save the aid worker.
“As we have been doing since these young women were abducted, we kept the line of negotiations open all through. In all the negotiations, we acted in the best interest of the women and the country as a whole.
“We are deeply pained by this killing, just like we were by the recent killing of the first aid worker. However, we will keep the negotiations open and continue to work to free the innocent women who remain in the custody of their abductors,” the minister said.
