The Clerk of the Benue State House of Assembly, Dr. Torese Agena, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order the police to vacate the State House of Assembly.

According to him, the president should issue the order to the Inspector General of Police as the instruction to sack the workers at the House of Assembly from the duty posts was said to have been carried out based on the “orders from above.”

Agena made the call on Tuesday when speaking with journalists over how the Nigeria Police Force ordered every staff of the legislative house to vacate their offices.

He said barely had they stayed in their offices for two hours before the police came and ordered them out.

He said when he tried to find out what was wrong from the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Besan Gwana, he said he was acting on orders from above.

He warned that the actions would have a negative effect on the activities at the House of Assembly if the siege was allowed to continue.

It would be recalled that the atmosphere at the House of Assembly has been tense having been turned to a political battle field.

It would be recalled that eight out of the 30 legislators in the state held a session in the House and issued an impeachment notice to Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.

In a counter move, the lawmakers were later suspended by the 22 others.
