The Bishop of Ahoada Anglican Diocese, Rt. Reverend Clement Ekpeye, has been kidnapped.
The Next Edition gathered that he was taken away on Tuesday night by unknown gunmen.
The incident was said to have taken place around 8:45p.m at the Bishop’s Court on Odiemerenyi road in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The men were said to have forced themselves into the Bishop’s compound and on sighting him, ordered him into a waiting car without wasting much time.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, River State, Nnamdi Omoni, said that investigation has already commenced to ensure that Rev. Ekpeye regained freedom before long.
Omoni explained that the kidnappers had invaded the residence of the cleric before he was taken away at gunpoint, saying, Yes, I can confirm to you that it happened on Tuesday night.

“We have begun the investigation and all hands are on the deck to ensure his release. The matter is with us. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad has moved in.”
Meanwhile, the Clerical Synod Secretary of the Diocese of Ahoada, has condemned the incident which he described as shocking.
He appealed to the kidnappers of the Bishop to release him unconditionally.
The synod secretary also called for prayers for the safety of the bishop.
