The Inspector General of Police (I-G), Ibrahim Idris, has ordered that politicians or groups found to be either inciting or making financial inducement to influence the outcome of Saturday’s Anambra governorship elections, should be arrested.
Idris gave the order on Wednesday in Abuja when he was speaking with officers and men of the Force Headquarters.

Stressing the need for the policemen to conduct themselves well during the election, Idris said all police officers should wear their conventional police attires.
He added that they should display their name tags for easy identification.
He also cautioned against any acts inimical to the success of the election.
His words: “You must avoid extortion of money from either politicians or the electorate; any act that will infringe on the Electoral Act and the peaceful conduct of this election will not be tolerated.
”You must do your utmost best to protect the electorate, INEC officials and the election materials.”
