Mrs. Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has said she will continue to support women with disabilities in the country by using her position to advocate for more support for them.
She said this during the 10th anniversary of the Advocacy for Women With Disabilities Initiatives (AWDI), in Abuja, on Thursday.

The wife of the president promised to use her position to advocate and support women with disabilities as well as self help groups that support AWDI.
Her words: “In my capacity as wife of the president, I will continue to support the course of women, especially those with special blessings, by advocating for more support for them. I will also assist self help groups that are supporting AWDI.”
She thanked and urged Nigerians and Non-Governmental Organisations that support women with disabilities and not to relent in their efforts, adding: “the good men supporting them, your courage to keep moving forward is admirable. I urge you to continue showing support through different initiatives.”
AWDA was launched in February 2009 in Abuja to organise support for women with disabilities and to seek for ways to reduce their difficulties in the pursuit of their daily activities and different endeavours.
