As the Nigerian Airforce celebrates its 57 years of establishment, President Muhammadu Buhari has urged all Nigerians to support his administration in tackling insecurity in the country.

The President stated this on Thursday, when he inducted three JF-17 Thunder aircrafts into the Nigerian Airforce in Makurdi, to commomerate the Nigerian Airforce at 57 years.

President Buhari who expressed his readiness to partner with international communities, also urged Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political differences to unite and support his government towards the unity, peace and progress of the country.

The President who was represented by the Minister of Defense, Major General Bashi Magashi (rtd), assured that his administration will continue to work with the partners and other members of the International Community to tackle the  challenges of terrorism.

“I wish to use this opportunity to encourage all law-abiding citizens to continue to stand together, irrespective of ethnic, tribal, religious or political affiliations, to pursue the greater goal of a secured, united and prosperous nation for us and our generations yet unborn, as we have no other alternative than to do this

“I believe our Nation will continue to take steps that would deepen our bilateral relations for the betterment of our peoples.

“Indeed, such mutually beneficial interactions are part of our commitment to a whole-of-nation and whole-of-humanity approach to dealing with insecurity in Nigeria, West Africa and the entire African Continent.

While applauding  Nigerian Air Force, for it’s  critical roles in national security and  in peace-keeping operations on the African Continent, President Buhari appreciated the resilience of  Nigerians who he said had continued to resist all negative elements that seek to divide the country with their destructive rhetoric and disingenuous propaganda.

He further encouraged all law-abiding citizens to continue to stand together, respective of ethnic, tribal, religious or political affiliations, to pursue the greater goal of a secured, united and prosperous Nation.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao appreciated the President for his gestures to the Airforce saying that with the three new aircrafts acquired, the service now has 26 aircrafts in it’s fleet.

He said, “Let me place on record that under the current administration the NAF has inducted 23 brand new aircrafts into it’s inventory from 2015 till date.

“The induction of the three JF-17 thunder aircraft brings the total no of new aircrafts inducted to 26.

“These aircrafts have significantly boosted our operational effectiveness in the fight to defeat all threat to the nation and it’s citizens.
