Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District has joined its counterparts in Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Senatorial Districts respectively to endorse Governor Umo Eno for a second term in office.
Presenting the endorsement communique to the Governor, Thursday April 23, 2026, the political leader of the district, Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN, said the endorsement was in recognition of the outstanding performance of Governor Eno in less than three years of his first term.

He noted that beyond the Governor’s origin in Uyo Senatorial District, his long-standing residence and business activities in Eket Senatorial District had endeared him to the people, who regard him as one of their own.

While assuring of their determination to support his re-election, he said, “We have an implicit confidence in your ability to serve our State till 2031.”

Chief Assam also noted that the Senatorial district also had unanimously agreed to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as support the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio for re-elections in 2027.

Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, commended the Governor for his quality leadership, which has given them the impetus for the endorsement.

She formally notified and presented Chief Assam as the new leader of the Senatorial District to the Governor, adding that Ikpoto Okon Osung and Engr Uwem Okoko were also chosen to work with the leader as the Deputy leader and Secretary of the Senatorial District respectively.

In their separate remarks, Dr. Pat Ifon, Ikpoto Okon Osong, and former Deputy Governor, Obong Nsima Ekere, reaffirmed their confidence, trust and support, in Governor Umo Eno’s administration and reassured of their commitment to supporting him for eight unbroken years.

On his part, the Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob, appreciated the stakeholders of Eket for their decision to stand by Uyo and their son, the Governor.

Responding, Governor Eno appreciated the delegation and the people of the Senatorial District as a whole for their show of love and confidence, and for the endorsement to complete what he started, saying that it was a pathway for sustainability.

He specifically appreciated the people of Eket and the State generally for the unity across the State, adding that the movement to the All Progressives Congress has largely contributed to the peace and unity enjoyed in the State.

Governor Eno said since assumption of office, he has served with sincerity and has made his mark, and assured of continuous commitment to good governance.

He noted that his administration has been very conscious to ensure inclusion, stressing that there was no local government without government projects.

The Governor who has lived and done business in Eket for many years, said he was particularly delighted with the construction of Eastern Obolo road to the council Secretariat and Odio road in Eket.

He urged the people to maintain peace for enhanced development, stressing that with development, geographical boundaries would be blurred.
