Police in Lagos have confirmed that a 73-year-old woman, Titilayo Adawi, was knocked down by a lorry driven by one Kazeem Ajibola on Monday on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and died on the spot.
The Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) in Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
Hundeyin said that the accident happened on Monday and was reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ilasan Division at 12.10 p.m.
He said that the report received by the DPO stated that a TATA Lorry with Reg. No. KRD-165-XZ, driven by one Kazeem Ajibola, allegedly knocked down the woman.
The image maker said the accident happened at Salem Bus Stop, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, inward Victoria Island, Lagos.
“As a result of the accident, the victim died on the spot. Based on the report, a team of traffic personnel visited the scene and took photographs of what they saw.
“They evacuated the corpse and deposited it at a public morgue for autopsy.

“Meanwhile, the driver had been arrested and the vehicle towed to the Vehicle Inspection Office for inspection,” he said.
Hundeyin said that investigation into the accident was in progress.
In another development, Hundeyin said that a fuel tank of a diesel generator located within the premises of the head office of Providus Bank exploded on Tuesday during which one person lost his life.
Hundeyin said that seven other persons, including a policeman, were injured in the explosion.
He said that those injured had been taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention. (NAN
