About 268 Nigerians evacuated from China arrived Abuja on Saturday.
The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made this known in a tweet on her verified Twitter handle.
She said the flight that conveyed the evacuees landed at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport at 2.30p.m on Saturday afternoon.
According to the tweet, the returnees would proceed on compulsory 14 days quarantine as stipulated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The tweet read: “#COVIDー19:
EVACUATION UPDATE:
“268 Stranded Nigerians in China lands in Abuja Int’l airport at exactly 2:30 pm Nigerian time today 30th May 2020.

“All Evacuees will be proceeding on Compulsory 14 days quarantined as mandated by @NCDC and @Fmohnigeria.”
Recall that some Nigerians and other foreign nationals had faced serial racial discriminations in Guangzhou, China, from provincial officials.
They were reportedly evicted from their apartments and hotels following their alleged refusal to go for the mandatory quarantine imposed by the Guangdong Provincial authorities sequel to the outbreak of coronavirus.
In a video clip that went viral, an official of the Nigerian Embassy in China was seen berating the provincial officials for the ill treatment of Nigerians.
However, the Chinese authorities said they later provided free hotel accommodations for 207 Nigerians.
