The Tiv Socio-Cultural group, Mdzough U Tiv has congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom and all successful candidates in the recently concluded 2019 general elections in Benue State.

The President General, Mdzough U Tiv, Edward Ujege in a press statement he co-signed with the secretary general, Dr. Boniface Ukende called for support to enable them succeed in all their positions

He said their election was a testimony that the people of Benue State have placed their trust in them amongst several other competent delegates who could as well do the job.

“Your election is a call for service which the Benue State dearly needs in almost all areas of endeavour including peace, education, physical infrastructure, agriculture and human development.

Ujege urged those who have been elected to serve at the national assembly to use their contacts wisely by lobbying for the benefit of Benue State notwithstanding party affiliation.

“We particularly want to encourage Governor Samuel Ortom for the dogged way he fought for the defence of Benue State. We assure him of our support in this regard, as we were part of the architecture for the enactment of the law that seeks to bring modern ways of animal husbandry in our State and Nigeria in general. We believe this is the only way that will bring peace and accord amongst Nigerian citizens.”

The president general noted that this was the time for reconciliation for the winners and losers. “Election was not war but a process to enable Benue State choose their representatives. We are advising the losers to cooperate and build a Benue State of our dream.

He also advised that where possible litigation should be avoided as it would further heighten tension and result into unnecessary legal expenditures.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Jerome Torshimbe assured the people of the state that Governor Ortoms second term will usher in sustainable peace, progress and more workers friendly programmes.

The Special Adviser in a congratulatory message signed by his media aide, Mr Jacob Atanya thanked the Benue electorates for choosing the path of truth by re-electing the incumbent governor assuring that Ortom will initiate and develop people oriented projects.

The Commissioner for Information in Benue state, Mr Joseph Shimaor who also congratulated Ortom on his re-election thanked Benue people for appreciating the hard work of the government saying they will not be disappointed.

He appealed to those who contested with Gov. Ortom to put politics aside and join him in the governance of the state saying “this victory does not belong to the PDP alone but to all Benue people.”

He acknowledged that litigation after an election is a process saying as a democrat, “it will be wrong to say someone should not ventilate whatever grievances they have but they should first consider the overall interest of the state to avoid distractions.

“Elections can not be won by everybody but they should share their ideas with Governor Ortom and reconsider whatever position they have taken for the interest of Benue.”

He further assured that the state government will pick up development from where it stopped to complete on going projects in education, health, agriculture, physical infrastructure among others.
