Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday, launched another attack on President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration, warning Nigerians not to vote him into government in 2019.

He described the present government as a failure.

Obasanjo’s first attack against Buhari was in January when, in an open letter, he warned the president not to stay in office beyond 2019.

His position was that the president had failed the nation, having allegedly been unable to take the country out of the woods.

In his latest attack which was launched at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, while hosting the New Nigeria Group, he declared that Buhari was a failure.

According to him, to re-elect Buhari was to reinforce failure.

His words: “The first lesson I learnt in my military training is to never reinforce failure. What we have now is a failure.

“Never you reinforce failure. Let failure be failure. And if you do not see what you should see, you will then be a victim of what you don’t like because it’s only when you see what you should see and you do what you should do that you put away what you do not like.

“Those of you who are into business know that by now you could have been better if we have an effective government. The truth is this – when you have an ineffective and incompetent government, we are all victims and don’t let anybody deceive you.”

Obasanjo also reiterated his original position that neither the ruling All Progressives Congress nor the leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, could take Nigerian people to the Promised Land.

He advised Nigerians to discountenance the apology by the PDP and the reform the APC claimed to be carrying out.

He particularly berated Buhari’s administration over the claim that its efforts were being frustrated by challenges.

Said he: “Stop giving excuses – we met challenges. If there were no challenges, then we wouldn’t need you to come. You came in because you know there were challenges… Stop giving us excuse that you have many challenges, that is why you haven’t achieved results.

“I have publicly said and I mean it, that as a party, neither PDP nor APC can get us there as they have been. Never mind about reforms and apology and all that.”

The former president called on the youth to take over the leadership of the country and improve the nation’s situation in general.
