More than one million female youths in Akwa Ibom State have expressed their resolve to completely and without reserve support the re-election of Gov. Udom Emmanuel in the forth-coming 2019 general elections.
They declared their stand at a solidarity rally organised by Akwa Ibom Female Youths Association through its International President, Edna Bassey.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Gov. Emmanuel thanked the female youths for their show of solidarity towards his second term bid assuring them of his administration’s commitment towards the future of Akwa Ibom State through various policies and programmes.
“I want to appreciate you today for taking the lead towards getting your PVC ready. Let me also assure you that my administration will continue to create an enabling environment for the future of this state,” the governor said.
He challenged them to mobilise more support at the grassroots level and avoid violence at any cost.
“The current peace in Akwa Ibom State is not because of me but by the Grace of God alone. As we campaign at our various units, let’s do so without violence,” he stated.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, State Chairman, Mr. Paul Ekpo, described the solidarity rally as a sign that Akwa Ibom State remains PDP.
He charged the youths to protect their votes during and after the elections in other to re-elect all candidates under the PDP.
In her speech, the International President Akwa Ibom Female Youths Association, Edna Bassey, thanked the Governor for granting them audience despite his busy schedule.
She stated that as a group, they were totally ready and committed towards ensuring his re-election come 2019.

“Your Excellency, the female youths in the state have seen the numerous achievements recorded in the last three years hence our collective resolve to support you till 2023.”
Prayers were offered for the Governor alongside presentation of souvenir.
Dignitaries present at event include: Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Chairman PDP AKS, Obong Paul Ekpo, Sen. Anietie Okon, Sen. Effiong Bob, Wife of DG Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Funmi Nkanga, Commissioners, House of Assembly members, aides to the Governor, flag bearers for PDP, female youths across the 31 LGAs, entertainers amongst others.
