A “Side chic” or “chick” is a mistress or a woman a man dates in addition to his wife or girlfriend, usually (but not always) in secret, according to Wikitionary. Are you surprised to note that even Wikitionary recognizes what that is?

Based on the definition given above, which has explained it enough, there is no need for more definitions. The word “side” explains it all.

Growing up our fathers had mistresses and we knew of them even though we weren’t supposed to. Some, however, didn’t flaunt them, while others did. Fast forward to 2017, things have changed! Some men nowadays go to functions with their ‘side chics’! The unbelievable thing here is that these are functions where their colleagues who went to their wedding or know their steady girlfriends are going to be present. But no one bats an eye. She even gets called Madam! What’s more!

Everyone is for modernization and westernization and what not, but they may not get over this easily. By the way, when did all the power go to the side chic? Who led that revolution? We need to know. The side chics themselves have no chill. These days, it’s not strange to see a ‘ side chic ’ advising the man on how to make his wife feel more loved or to spend more time with his kids. You see that’s the thing!

Back to when we were growing up, we knew the mistress as someone who wanted to overthrow the wife. ‘ Side chics ’ these days, some if not most of them have NO intention of becoming the wife! They are ok with the status quo. They don’t want to rock the boat. So, you hear stuffs from a side chick like how she would advice a husband to call his wife more, send her love text messages more. What’s happening here? It’s all changing too fast than we can keep up with.

The gist here is: When did this phenomenon stick? Are you here for this side chic movement? You better trust and believe that it is a movement. Some of the girls in question proudly own up to the fact that ‘yes, they are with someone’s husband or boyfriend, and yes, that’s how the bills get paid.’

What do you have to say to that? And then there are wives who have accepted it as it is. They are aware that one week in a month or whatever, Oga will travel out with a side chic A and she is to take it as it is. She is satisfied with her position and says “After all, I’m the wife in the house. It’s my kids that will inherit his wealth.” Is that so? Has it gotten to that level?

Please educate us some more; may be our knowledge is lacking in this ministry. Is this part of the submission the Bible asks for? Because some of us may have missed the point. If you must cheat, at least hide it! That’s how some of our fathers used to do it.

As usual, we are not judging anyone, the man, the wife and the side chic. People have different reasons for doing what they do. We are just trying to understand what is fast becoming our new normal. If the times are changing, one needs to change with it.

Drop a comment for us and let us know if you are for or against this movement. Thanks.
