Former Lagos State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Tunji Shelle, has said that stable electricity supply will always come with higher tariff, stressing that government must assure Nigerians that with the increase, there must also be regular electricity supply.
Shelle maintained that the regular electricity power supply would reduce risks associated with storing petrol and diesel at homes, pointing out that government must be sincere to provide regular electricity with the increase in tariff.

He said the problem most time had been government reneging on its promises, maintaining that if government would fulfil its part of the deal, once Nigerians begin to pay the new tariff, it would be cheaper to have regular electricity than opt for diesel and petrol, which, according to him, were too expensive, when compared with cost of regular electricity.
The PDP chieftain said Nigerians should give government the benefit of the doubt, maintaining that the only way Nigerians would have stable electricity supply would be by paying higher tariff, which he insisted, would benefit the people more than alternative sources of power.
