The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said it is ready for the February 16 Presidential election.
The party has also expressed confidence that its candidate, Atiku Abubakar would emerge victorious at the polls. According to the party’s Spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement, “not even the machinations by the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress, APC, can change this reality.”
He said; “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is ready for the February 16 Presidential election; our agents, members and millions of Nigerians rallying behind the people’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are as well, set for the polls to hand President Muhammadu Buhari his inevitable defeat certificate on Saturday.
“By all manifest indices from the six geo-political zones, 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the peoples candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is already coasting to victory and not even the machinations by the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) can change this reality.”
Ologbondiyan noted that in spite of all efforts by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to frustrate it, PDP had resolved to lead Nigerians in wrestling their destinies out off the hands of the APC. “Having laid out all concerns ahead of this crucial elections, including the provocative foisting of President Buhari’s Relation by marriage, Mrs. Amina Zakari, as head of INEC collation center; the plot by INEC to substitute biometric voter accreditation with manual process; the insistence on simultaneous accreditation and voting; creation of illegal polling centers to allocate fictitious votes to President Buhari; deployment of APC loyalists as electoral officers as well as the disgraceful resort to the burning of INEC offices by the APC;
“Also, given that INEC is under siege by the Buhari Presidency and now relies on the resilient spirit of Nigerians to ensure a free, fair and credible election, the PDP is resolute to lead in the fronts in the pursuit of the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians to take the destiny of our nation in their hands.”
He spoke further; “For Nigerians, this election is a choice between democracy and dictatorship; between justice and injustice, between prosperity and poverty; unity and polarity; peace and bloodletting; freedom and enslavement; progress and stagnation; creation of jobs and job losses, respect for territorial integrity and invasion; a choice between an in-charge President and a President by proxy.

“It is also between a candidate that will accept responsibility and a candidate that always engage in a blame game. It is a choice between a candidate that will turn our nation into a pariah state and a candidate that will make our nation a huge foreign investment destination for the benefit of the people. This is the reason Nigerians are willing to make any sacrifice in this election. The pelting of President Buhari at his Ogun state campaign rally says it all.
“We want to note that our party has fully mobilized over 40 million of our members and directed our supporters to stand shoulder to shoulder with Nigerians in all the polling centers across the federation in the overall determination to vehemently unleash full-scale resistance against President Buhari and APC’s rigging plans.
“Our members are hereby directed to get ready to arrive at their polling centers very early ready to vote and to use every legitimate means to protect themselves from any aggression, resist all rigging plans, all through the way, to the very end.
“The PDP is in full knowledge of all the illegal polling centers and we will unleash our strength against plans to use such places to award fictitious votes for President Buhari and the APC.
“President Buhari and his agents in INEC should note that this is 21st century and that Nigerians will effectively monitor all the ballots, have all the real results from all the polling centers real time, up to the national collation.
“Our members, supporters and indeed all Nigerians are therefore directed to arrive their polling centers with their lunch packs, mats, water bottles, mobile phones, phone power banks and other necessary items for a long stay at the polling centers. All our supporters should vote and remain at the polling centers to monitor the process until the declaration of results.”
