No fewer than ten people have been arrested in Nasarawa State by the police over alleged setting ablaze of houses deserted by the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nasarawa and Benue border towns.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Idirisu Kennedy, made this known on Saturday.
Speaking with journalists in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, he said the arrests resulted from the patrols carried out by the police.
He said those arrested would soon be charged to court.
The police spokesman giving details of the arrests said one Nicholas Alua and three others, who are all Tiv people, were arrested on February 11 for burning three houses of their Tiv brothers at Farin Ruwa I of Obi Local Government Area (LGA).
A Tiv man, he said was, on Ijakeni Uhon of Gidan Nguinyi arrested for setting fire on 25 houses belonging to some Tiv people at Gidan Wakili.
On January 1, 2018, Danis Utsa of Kadarko and three others were caught for setting ablaze the house of one Edward Alima.
The police officer said two Fulani people, Bagu Anaruwa and Rabo Anaruwa, from Obi local government area were arrested for burning 15 houses belonging to some Tiv people in Kuduku II Vilage of Keana local government area.
