Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, House of Representatives aspirant for Orumba South/Orumba North Federal Constituency of Anambra, has called for more women participation in the 2023 general elections.
Nnabuife, contesting understand the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the call shortly after submitting her expression of interest and nomination forms at the party’s secretariat in Awka on Monday.
Nnabuife said the coast is very clear for more women, not only in Anambra, but across Nigeria, to excel politically in future elections because of the recent electoral act amendment signed by Mr. President.
“Given the recent amendment to the Electoral Act, it is now more promising for women to go into electoral contests because all the encumbrances which inhibited women to succeed have been removed.
“I make bold to say that those banking on fraudulent politically practices will fail in the next elections because with the electronic transmission of results, nobody can manipulate the results.

“My strong belief is that votes will count in the next election and the only way out for politicians now is to market themselves to the electorates during the campaigns to showcase what they can offer if voted into office,” she said.
She appealed to the PDP and other political parties to provide enabling environment for women participation in the 2023 general elections, saying it would do the nation more good.
Nnabuife, making her second attempt for the same position, added that Nigeria could be liberated from numerous challenges threatening it if more women participate in governance.
“In Orumba South/Orumba North Federal Constituency, no woman has ever represented the Constituency and there is a lot of programmes we have articulated for the benefits of women, youths and the male folks,” she said.
Nnabuife also appealed to parents, especially mothers, to speak to their children on the growing insecurity in the state, adding that “violence is an ill wind that blows no one well”.
