Ademola Adeleke, younger brother of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has emerged the winner of the Osun West Senatorial District, bye-election which held on Saturday, in Osun State.
Ademola Adeleke contested for the senatorial seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The announcement was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after the counting exercise that followed the election.
Adeleke polled 97,480 votes as against that of his closest rival, Mudashiru Husain, of the All Progressives Congres, APC, who polled 66,116 votes.
The margin between the two contestants is 31, 364 votes
“Having scored the highest number of votes and having certified the requirement of the law, Otunba (Dr.) Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke of People’s Democratic Party(PDP) is hereby declared WINNER of Osun West Senatorial Bye-Election and return elected,” INEC declared.

The bye-election came following the sudden death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
The accreditation and voting in Osun West bye-election was conducted peacefully with a large turn out of voters.
Electoral officials were reported to have arrived venue of the polls on time with materials.
Despite the downpour, the people of the district came out en-masse to vote.
