Osun guber: Adeleke free to contest as court dismisses certificate forgery case

The Osun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is free to contest the September 22 election.

The verdict was given by an Osogbo High Court in Osun State on Wednesday.

Two members of the PDP in Osun State, Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwaseun Idowu, wanted the election of Adeleke to be cancelled as he allegedly did not present a secondary school certificate, being one of the requirements to qualify for the post of governor.

But in his judgement, Justice David Oladimeji said the plaintiff’s counsel, Mr. Olufemi Ayandokun, did not address the case of forgery in the originating summons.

He said it would take the maker of the certificate to deny the certificate before it could be considered to be forged.

He added that the plaintiff did not prove that the certificate was forged.

Dismissing the case, he said it lacked merit.
