Principal Special Assistant to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Government House Administration, Mr. James Anbua, has escaped assassination attempt when gunmen attacked his country home, Tse-Girgi, Mbavuur, Logo local government area of Benue State.
The Next Edition gathered that the attack came barely 10 hours after Anbua gave out his daughter in a traditional marriage at his country home.
An eye witness who wishes not to be named said the gunmen who came on three motorcycles arrived at Mr. Anbua residence at about 1:30am on Sunday and started shooting directly at the house.

He said the security men who were on guard engaged the gunmen who retreated and later came back 30 minutes after and opened fire on the house again, this time, tearing the roof and some blocks.
The source expressed happiness that no life was lost but stated that many people who were still in the house celebrating as Anbua gave out his daughter in marriage were injured.
The source also lamented that the gunmen made away with some cows belonging to Mr. Anbua.

The matter has since been reported to the Police Divisional office in Ugba, Logo local government area.
Speaking to our correspondent on the phone, Mr. James Anbua, confirmed the incident saying it occurred at about 1a.m.
He said the gunmen did not gain entrance to his rooms but they made away with his 17 cows and nine sheep.
The Governor’s aide appreciated God for sparing his life and that of his people.
As at the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Catherine Anene, said she was not aware of the incident yet.
