A number of trade and business meetings with global investors, including Investment and Asset Managers and Analysts hold today at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The first will be a meeting of the Business Council for International Understanding organised by the Nigeria Investment Promotions Council.

The meeting, according to the media aide to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, Akpandem James, is to create understanding between the Government of Nigeria, global investors and Think Tank analysts.

Ministers who accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to the UNGA and CEOs of government agencies are attending the meeting where they will address economic and governance issues particularly those pertaining to Nigeria’s economic outlook, business climate and investment opportunities.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and other related officials will also meet separately with Standard and Poor’s Rating Agency and Moody’s Rating Agency.

The Zenith Bank sponsored Global Economic Forum tagged “Nigeria open for Business” for foreign direct investors, domestic and international business leaders will hold later in the day.

President Buhari is expected to attend a rescheduled meeting on anti-corruption.

On Thursday, ministers, the Central Bank Governor and bosses of government agencies will have series of meetings with relevant groups of foreign investors, Think Tank Analysts and Rating Agencies.

Government officials already in New York as at Tuesday evening include the Ministers of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma; Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Trade, Industries and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, and Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole.

Others include CBN Governor, Emefiele; Director General of DMO, Patience Oniha; Executive Secretary NIPC, Yewande Sadiku and EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
