Nigeria’s apex court, the Supreme Court, on Monday advised counsels representing all parties in the leadership tussle for the soul of Nigeria football to await further directives on the date it will deliver its judgement.
The panel of five justices reached the verdict after hearing the plea of the new counsel representing the Aminu Maigari & Co for NFF, who had announced his appearance for the first time in the matter following change of Festus Keyamo, who had hitherto represented Maigari & Co.
The new counsel further asked the court to adjourn the case to enable him acquaint himself with the case files.
The panel of Justices however struck out his motions on the grounds that only one matter was slated for the Monday hearing and that was delivery of judgment.
The panel thereafter advised all parties to await court notification on date of judgment.
It could be recalled that Nigerian football had been embroiled in leadership tussle since 2013 after the emergence of two boards.
Both boards headed by Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa respectively have since laid equal claims to the leadership of Nigerian football much to the detriment of development of Nigeria football.
The competing claims have been tested at various levels of the court, High Court, Appeal Court and now the Supreme Court.
