JUST IN: Killings: Senate also summons Muhammadu Buhari

Barely a day after the House of Representatives summoned President Muhammadu Buhari over the incessant killings in the country, the Senate has done the same.

It summoned the president to explain the security poor security situation that has refused to go.

However, plans are on to ensure that he addresses the Senate and the House of Representatives jointly.

The motion to summon the president was moved by Senator Obinna Ogba, Ebonyi Central.

He expressed the need for the president to explain the security situation to the legislators.

Ogba’s motion resulted from the debate on a motion moved by Senator George Akume, Benue North-West, over the unceasing killings.

Contributors to the debate decried the killings and largely blamed the security chiefs in the country for not doing enough to stem the tide.

Majority of the legislators agreed on the motion to summon the president and so it was passed.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, said the leaderships of the Senate and House of Representatives would meet to agree on a date that the president would address them.
