The Senate on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with security chiefs over the state of insecurity in the country.
At the meeting are the Chief of Defence Staff, Abayomi Olonisakin; the Director-General of State Security Service, Lawan Daura and other service chiefs.
The security chiefs are to brief the Senate on the state of insecurity and the efforts they are making to stem the tide.
The meeting followed a summon to that effect by the Senate on May 8.

During its plenary, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi representing Kaduna North in the National Assembly, in a motion titled “Proliferation of dangerous firearms in Nigeria” expressed concern over the continued violence in different parts of the country.
Of particular concern, according to the motion, is the proliferation of arms.
It would be recalled that the state of insecurity has increased in different parts of the country.
In several communities, particularly in Kaduna, Benue, Taraba and many others states of the federation, killing, kidnapping and other crimes have not ceased despite efforts by security agencies.
