The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, (NPHDA), has introduced Modified Integrated Medical Outreach as a new strategy to improve immunization coverage in the state.

Executive Secretary, Benue State Primary Healthcare Board, Bem Ageda disclosed this in an interview with Journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday.
Mr. Agenda said the five-day immunization exercise, which started on Monday, 4th October, 2020, is to cover 1.2 million children under the age of five in the immunization against all vaccine preventable diseases.
He also stated the exercise would have medical services activities such as outreaches where mothers health challenges would be tackled and advised mothers and caregivers to avail themselves and their children for the programme.
The ES stated that the programme was being implemented in all council wards in the 21 local governments excluding Makurdi and Oju that have done well in previous immunization exercises.
Also speaking, Acting State Coordinator, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Babatunde Abdullarazak said 2,801 local government health workers have been deployed to carry out immunization in 2,006 fixed posts, 510 temporary fixed posts and 30 mobile posts.
Mr. Abdurazak said through theses deliberate approaches, hard to reach, riverine, Fulani camps and other camps will be covered.
