The former National Vice-Chairman (South-South), All Progressives Congress, Hilliard Eta, on Tuesday insisted that he was still a member of the ruling party as well as its acting chairman.
He maintained that the National Executive Committee which met on Tuesday and adopted his expulsion was illegally convened.
The Next Edition reports that the APC’s NEC, had at an emergency meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in attendance, approved Eta’s expulsion following his refusal to withdraw the suit instituted against the party from court as directed by Buhari.

Recting to the development however, Eta, maintained the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee was illegal and their action a nullity.
“I am already in Court. The lawyers amongst them should have told them that they can’t make that pronouncement since I am in Court.
“Their action is a nullity because it isn’t even the NEC of the party that met.
“Their so-called acting national secretary has no power to convene NEC. Without prejudice to my pending matter in court, I wish to state that you cannot build something on nothing, unless the court rules otherwise, even the NEC meeting of June 25, was illegal as such all decisions taken since them were built on illegalities,” he insisted.
