No fewer than 12 bandits were killed by Troops from 1 Division in Kaduna on Thursday.
The operation against the bandits was carried out in some village markets.
The areas of the operation, according to Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, were Kidandan, Maidaro and Sabon Fili villages.
The bandit were said to have gone to the markets to restock when they were attacked.
The operation was carried out based on a tip off.
Chukwu said troops and members of the vigilance group infiltrated the market and were able to identify the bandits.
Said the army spokesman: “A few hours later on appearance of other uniformed troops to arrest the identified bandits, serious fire fight ensued between troops and the fleeing bandits.
“In the process, due to superior fire power of our own troops, 12 of the fleeing bandits were neutralized.’’
No fewer than 32 motorcycles, five handsets and N9, 135 cash were recovered from the bandits, Chukwu disclosed.
