The Presidency has dissociated itself from a message on a fake twitter handle making the round.
The spurious message is said to have been tweeted by President Muhammadu Buhari, justifying attacks by herdsmen under the excuse that they were defending themselves.
The denial of the tweet was made in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on Saturday.
The Presidency attributed the tweet to evil-doers who were bent on causing disunity in the country.

The Presidency said Buhari remained committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of the people of Nigeria.
It would be recalled that President Buhari had been criticized for looking the other way while herdsmen had attacked different communities in the country, killing and maiming.
The Presidency had however denied condoning the herdsmen, stressing that it was committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of Nigerians
The message by the Presidency denying the tweet reads: “A message on a fake Twitter handle purportedly belonging to President Muhammadu Buhari is in circulation. The spurious message seeks to justify attacks by herdsmen, saying they were only defending themselves.
“Evil doers and enemies of our country are obviously at work, seeking ways to further advance their pernicious acts. The message is denounced in its entirety, and President Buhari stands by his earlier condemnation of the killings in Benue and other parts of the country as dastardly and unacceptable before God and man. Those behind the concocted message are also enemies of God and man, who have no place in a decent society.
“The President stands by his earlier directives that all those behind wanton killings in any part of the country must be brought to book.”
