The Educational Resource Group (ERG), an international education consultancy organisation, has commended the Governing Council and management of the Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit, on the various developmental strides in the college.

In a release issued by the African Regional Director of the Global Educational Resource Group, Dr. Henry Douglass, the group noted with satisfaction the efforts of the Mrs. Regina Ikpatt-led Governing Council and Professor Matthew Ekpo’s led management at repositioning the Akwa Ibom State College of Education to meet the yearnings of its founding fathers.

The group also commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the appointment of credible educational administrator in the mould of Mrs. Regina Ikpatt and other Governing Council members with rich years of experience into the College’s Governing Council.

The group also applauded the appointment of Professor Matthew Ekpo as the College Provost.

It said Ekpo had not left anyone in doubt about his drive and vision to transform the College into one of the best Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

The ERG-Group indicated that its critical study of challenges of educational institutions in Nigeria had placed the Akwa Ibom State College of Education at a very disadvantaged ranking until the coming of the Regina Ikpatt-led Governing Council and current College Provost, Professor Matthew Ekpo.

The group described the release of the about 6,000 copies of NCE Certificates abandoned since 2006 as the “release of hope” and provision of “future collateral” to the myriads of NCE students who had nothing to show for their toils in the college.

Apart from the commissioning of an e-learning centre courtesy of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with a US based ICT University, the University of Louisiana, the present College Management has taken delivery of 25 assorted units of computers in March2017 out of the 100 units indicated in MOU, and is soon to kick-off a training programme for staff and students of the College.

This is also in addition to an Internet Connectivity agreement with telecommunication giant MTN, for uninterrupted internet services in the college.

It noted that the robust council and management synergy in the college must have attracted its inclusion into the programmes of the second Anniversary of Udom Emmanuel civilian regime in Akwa Ibom State, as evidenced in the flag-off of the construction of a 0.9 kilo-metre dual carriage way into the college with side drainage.

The group added that in support of the developmental drive of the current College Council/Management, the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) had also approved the construction of 3.5 kilometre of internal roads in the college; in addition to the reactivation of a water project in the College abandoned 2016.
