France has denied being the headquarters of sources of funds of the proscribed secessionists group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The denial was made in response to the allegation by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that France was one major financial source of IPOB.
“Let me tell you, the financial headquarters is in France, we know…You have to block the sources of finance,” the minister was quoted as saying during the week.
But debunking the allegation, French embassy in Nigeria said it had no knowledge of IPOB activities in France.
In a statement he issued, Political Counsellor in the French Embassy, Mr. Claude Abily, said Nigerian government did not get in touch with France on the issue.
