The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin, Edo State, has lost sensitive and non-sensitive materials to flood.
The loss of the materials happened on Saturday during a flooding which brought down the fence of the office.
The office was also generally destroyed.
According to the Administrative Secretary of INEC in Edo, Mr. Lebari Nduh, the flood resulted from the ongoing road construction and the poor drainage system at Lucky Way.
As a result of the flood, he explained, some major stores of the commission were flooded, destroying laptops, printing machines and card readers as they were all covered with water.
No fewer than 18 pickup vans of the commission that were packed at the office were also affected.
Nduh who called on relevant agencies like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Ministry of Works to come to the aid of the commission thanked the Nigeria police for securing the complex since the menace of the flood.
