Not fewer than five persons were reportedly killed on Thursday in fresh attacks by suspected Jukun militia in Gyenku village, Ukum LGA of Benue State.
Our correspondent reports that the attacks took place barely two weeks after the commander of Operation Whirl Stroke covering Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states, Major General Adeyemi Yekini met with leaders and other stakeholders from the states in Wukari to broker peace, following which they agreed to end hostilities.
The Caretaker Chairman of Ukum local government area, Mr. Tor-Tyokaa Ibellogo, told journalists that the attackers invaded the village in the early hours of Thursday as the people were in their farms.

He said that the attackers killed five persons and injured one woman who is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
The chairman, further said the invaders only came to kill as they did not destroyed any houses.
He said the joint committee on Tiv/Jukun Crisis had planned to visit him next week Monday when this latest attack happened.
When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Sewuese Catherine Anene could not confirm the incident. She simply said “I’m not aware of any attack”.
