The first-ever “Puff Puff” festival, managed and owned by Margaret Anne Capitals limited, the weekend took place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, with the aim of promoting and celebrating the art of “puff puff” making.
The event, which held at De Vagas Paradise, Udo Umana road, Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, attracted different vendors schooled in the art of combining the food with other incentives to create a balanced meal.
Speaking at the event, the organizers, Barr. Unwana Umana, said the event wad basically to celebrate, revive and take “puff puff” to the next level where it would be seen as a full meal in Nigeria.
He said, “This event is basically to promote and celebrate “puff puff” itself, to celebrate the diverse side of it that we have in Nigeria and we hope that in the nearest future it will become an international meal just like any other food.

“So we are here to appreciate the food, and the art of making it by the different vendors invited,” he said pointing out that “the vendors are here to display how to combine different techniques with vegetable and other incentives to create a balanced meal.”
Unwana who disclosed that the mega event would come up in December in Akwa Ibom this year said the people of the state would benefit tremendously from the event as it would open a vista of opportunities to them.
According to him, the people would know the different vendors with the particular food art and not only learned from them but also patronize them in the future during big events such as a wedding, which is very common in the state.
“This event is the first of its kind in Nigeria and it is taken place here in Akwa Ibom state. We hope that in the nearest future it will get to other cities within the country,” he said.
The Event Manager, Mr. Udeme Ikpatt, told the Next Edition that the whole idea about the festival was to revive not just the dying conventional “puff puff” eating habit but puff puff with other incentives among young and old people.
“You can see that the puff puff eating habit has died down, so we are trying to revive it, not just the normal conventional puff puff but the puff puff with other incentives that go with it.
