Despite the siege laid to his residence in the early hours of Tuesday, Senate President Bukola Saraki, arrived the National Assembly to preside over the plenary.

Saraki’s media aide, Bamikole Omisore, confirmed the siege in a tweet earlier.

But some hours after, Saraki was seen in the Senate chamber.

Omisore said he was on his way to the police headquarters to honour the invitation by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over the April 5 Offa robbery case when he was blocked.

The tweet reads:  “The @PoliceNG have blocked the Senate President @BukolaSaraki’s convoy at Lake Chad Junction on his way to report to the police headquarters upon the last night invitation by the police received at 8 p.m.”

Yesterday, Ibrahim Idris wrote a letter to Saraki, inviting him for further interrogation on the Offa robbery case which the police said, suspects had linked him to.

Saraki had, in a swift reaction, dismissed the invitation as political, saying it was a ploy to abort some legislators from defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
