A renowned Cleric, Babatunde Elijah Ayodele, has described Nigeria’s democracy as one of the biggest obstacles to the country’s unity.

He warned of impending breakup of Nigeria if politicians continue with their win-at-all- costs approach to electoral contests.

Ayodele, the Founder and Spiritual Head of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos State, was reacting to the just concluded general elections and the conduct of the political class.

The cleric argued that the secret ballot system of election has been a subject of controversy and manipulation in Nigeria, saying that Option ‘A 4, remains the best choice for the nation’s democracy and the country’s survival.

Ayodele who stated this at the INRI Prosperity Estate, Lagos headquarters of his church on Sunday, described Nigeria’s democracy as deceptive and the time bomb that will eventually consume the country.

He said, “Democracy will break Nigeria, just mark my words, I have nothing more to say. What is going on is heartbreaking, it is painful; there is no democracy in Nigeria, let’s go back to Option A4,’ secret ballot is a fraud. Secret ballot is full of lies and it breeds corruption.

“Nigeria is sitting on the time bomb that can explode at anytime. Let’s wait for the time that it will explode. There is no democracy in Nigeria. Are we practicing true democracy? How can some people be threatening a particular group for not voting a particular political party? So let’s pray for Nigeria.”

Ayodele recalled his earlier predictions concerning the outcome of the 2019 presidential election, saying that he stands by his prediction despite misrepresentation of facts by some individuals. He alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, failed in the February 23 Presidential poll because it failed to heed to his warnings.

He said, “I said it earlier that if members of the PDP should work very hard and guard against being manipulated by its rival that they could win the presidential election. I also said that if President Muhammadu Buhari should force himself into second term, his government won’t be a usual government. I can see instability and the security situation in the country will deteriorate.”
