The Teranga Lions of Senegal are the first African team to win in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
This victory has put them in a good position in group H.
They are level on points with Japan who defeated Columbia earlier.
16 years ago they opened their 2002 campaign with a win against France.
They stunned them by winning that game 1-0.
They beat Sweden by a golden goal in the round of 16 and lost to Turkey by the same golden goal in the quarter final.
In today’s game, an own goal at the stroke of half time gave Senegal the lead in the 37th minute by Cionek.

In the second half, Niang through a controversial circumstance got the second goal for Senegal.
He intercepred a ball from the midfield and was one on one with the Polish goal keeper who was out of his post.
A touch on the ball was enough to beat the keeper.
Poland exacted pressure on Senegal and were able to pull one goal back in the 85th minute.
From there, Poland mounted pressure on the Senegalese team but it was not enough to get the equalizer as they held on to the 2-1 lead.
The African continent is extremely proud about it.
