Anarchy looms in Benue State as 22 lawmakers in the House of Assembly suspended seven of their colleagues for attempting to impeach Governor Samuel Ortom.
Their suspension is to last for six months even as plenary has been adjourned to August 21, 2018.
The suspended members which are: Adanyi Benjamin, Terhemba Ocha, Benjamin Nungwa, Ben Mngutyo, Adams Okloho, James Okefe and Nick Eworo.
The motion to suspend the lawmakers was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Avine Agbom, and seconded by Hon. Ianna Jato.
The lawmakers who have served Governor Ortom impeachment notice gave non-payment of salaries as part of the reasons for the impeachment.
It would be recalled that the former Speaker of the assembly was impeached last week with the majority of 22 members appending their signatures to that effect.
Also, it would be recalled that the Chief Justice of Benue State, Justice Adam Onum, had issued an injunction restraining the impeached Speaker Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange, from parading himself as the Speaker and to return all government property in his possession to the Assembly.

The seven lawmakers took control of the premises of the state parliament with the support of the police.
The Next Edition learnt that Mr. George Akume, former governor of the state and an APC senator, brought the officers from Abuja to use the said lawmakers to impeach the governor.
The impeachment move is coming less than a week after the governor defected to the APC based on the demands of Benue youths.
